CRIME NOVEL AND FILM NOIR I

Synopsis

The so-called “noir mania”, which saturates literary novels and screens (cinema, television), the same that fills our leisure time, is not a fashion: it is an obsession, since it has reached the point of nourishing not only the noir novel, but also film noir. But let's leave aside whether crime noir is a genre, a subgenre, a trend or any other way of categorizing it. Its contents are about crime, period; about its perpetrators, victims, machinations and consequences; about entertaining us with clues, impossible investigations; about the banality of evil, even about us: people with desires and passions that lead us to sin, redemption or hell created by ourselves in our everyday dreams.

As societies increase their level of violence - in tandem with their modernization and economic development - audiences demand cultural products akin to the reality that surrounds them, either to escape from it or, on the contrary, to identify with it. We want to be saints, but we are fascinated by the forbidden, the dark side of our own shadow. If you like Sherlock Holmes, Lisbeth Salander, Kay Scarpetta, Fantômas, Auguste Dupin, Don Corleone, Hannibal Lecter, Sunny Pascal or Filiberto García; if you find guys to watch out for, thugs, dangerous girls and plots where nothing goes as expected, this book is for you: armchair detective or PC criminal, follower of false clues or reader of the crime section. We are fascinated by the night, the forbidden, the faces behind the masks of complacency and the people who live behind the walls, who hide their desires for power and their most unspeakable ambitions...
