CONTEMPORARY CONJUNCTURES, NARRATIVES AND MYTHOLOGIES: Editorial columns and speeches of 2021

This volume is the latest in a series of five volumes of speeches by the rector of the UAA. The collected texts have in common important ideas that are at the heart of the mission of a university. Some of these ideas belong to the field of knowledge of the world or, if you will, of truth: the place of research and the free discussion of ideas in the search for them; the possibility of distinguishing solid knowledge from unsubstantiated knowledge; the value of reason versus feeling as a criterion of truth, etc. Other ideas correspond to the sphere of social duty or, if preferred, of good: the ethical superiority of solidarity versus selfishness; of equality versus inequality; of respect for those who are different and inclusion versus intolerance and discrimination; of openness to other ideas over sectarianism; or of democracy over authoritarianism.
