CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN THE FOUNDATION OF THE URBAN DESIGN PROGRAM IN PUBLIC SPACES
Synopsis
Citizen participation, the existing spaces in the site, the observation of the activities carried out by the users and the urban designer's criteria are the source of basic information to support the integral program of spaces and activities proposed. This was the basis for the text, whose objective is to present in a didactic, clear and orderly manner the way in which the population's needs for spaces, activities and the desired environment in the different spaces that make up a park were captured, in order to have an integrated program.
In order to obtain this information, a sample of 10 parks in medium-sized residential areas, such as El Dorado Park, was taken, since it has very positive factors for this type of study, such as the diversity of spaces and activities (religious, commercial, recreational, among others). These data were the support for the integral program of the spaces; in addition, the importance lies in its strategic location in the environment, which allows a great affluence to the site both of the adjacent subdivisions and of the inhabitants of other parts of the city. In this context there are important facilities for the city such as the El Dorado Shopping Center, the Red Cross, offices, a church and a commercial area of great diversity on primary roads such as Avenida Aguascalientes (segundo anillo) and Avenida Las Américas.
The book is structured in several stages, which are described in detail in order to support the development of similar projects where the importance of involving the population in the construction of public space is understood, since it must meet their expectations and needs.
