THE MAN BEHIND THE MASTER, THE FRIEND BEHIND THE MAN: Jorge Pérez Gómez in the training of orchestra conductors

This book presents the results obtained during the year of research, which were organized in eight chapters: the first one, “Verbalization of intentionalities and experiences in training processes”, corresponds to the statement of the research problem. The following three chapters present the conceptual corpus that supports the phenomenological approach: “Phenomenology and pedagogical hermeneutics”, “Ethnomethodology and history of the present time” and “Semiotics of learning and the relationship of mutual attunement”. In chapters five to eight, explicit and hidden intentionalities are presented, interpreted through the three approaches: “The ‘manual’: explicit and hidden communicability”, “Leading is not only moving hands: singing to make decisions; corporal conscience and vital experience: from value judgments to conviction” and “Discipline, obsession and perseverance: the man behind the teacher and the friend behind the man”. It concludes with a section of reflections intended to encourage other researchers to explore other processes of music education.
