TRANSCENDING IN LIGHT: Fifty flashes

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the University, the Editorial Department decided to join in the commemorative activities by launching an open call for applications, the purpose of which was to gather a select sample of the fruits that the institution has produced. In the first instance, the call allowed anyone to nominate the graduates they considered exemplary for their life history, their achievements, the importance of their activities and the awards they have received. Of the many proposals received, a committee composed of specialists from very diverse areas made a pre-selection, which was finalized with the response of the selected graduates who were willing to be part of this volume. It seems to me of great importance to insist that this commemorative work is only a sample, which in no way pretends to be exhaustive: the very large number of graduates who have managed to stand out and embody the maxim of this University: to be an illuminating light, is not exhausted here.
The editorial proposal presented here considered, for a question of both space and symbolism, only fifty places: fifty flashes of light, as a small but significant representation of the enormous, enormous number of luminous fruits that our tree has produced in its first half century. Finally, let us exercise our empathy and see in this book, in the fifty flashes of light captured here, the reflection of ourselves and of all the people who have made possible the birth, development and consolidation of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes.
