Synopsis

The Autonomous University of Aguascalientes is pleased to present this book to its community and society at large. This publication is a testament to the creative and artistic talent present among the students of our institution. The University Talents initiative—on this occasion, in the categories of Poetry and Short Story, published in February and March 2025, respectively—represents an open platform for the discovery and expression of artistic abilities, not only among students in arts or humanities-related majors, but also among those in engineering, basic sciences, design, and other disciplines. All students have creative potential, and its development fosters personal growth, strengthens social skills, and lays the groundwork for future fulfillment.

Our institution recognizes itself as a melting pot where talent flourishes, driven by passion, exploration, and continuous learning. As a phrase commonly—though erroneously—attributed to the Greek philosopher Plato, but no less true for that, says: "Talent is like a tree; success is like its fruit: both depend on the care they receive."

The University Talents program is an initiative coordinated by the Department of Cultural Outreach, with the aim of promoting and consolidating the artistic and cultural talent of our student community. On this occasion, the Editorial Department is joining in to collaborate on the editing, printing, and publication of this testimonial book. As part of this collaboration, for the Short Story category, a special theme on the relationship between Mexico and Spain was included in the call for entries, with the aim of linking this volume to the framework of the 2025 UAA Book Fair, whose guest of honor will be the Union of Spanish University Publishers (UNE). Both departments are part of the General Directorate of Dissemination and Outreach of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, which promotes these actions as part of an institutional policy to encourage creative expression.
